Hillel the Elder was asked exactly that, thousands of years ago. I don't know, then, or now, if the question wad asked facetiously, or straight up. But the answer was and is, love your neighbour *as if* you loved yourself. Then, you will still do Good, and most likely end up loving yourself as well.
