Wow are you inferring that being gay is something that is shameful and should be hidden or are you saying that Republicans are gay and since you hate gays you hate Republicans.

No one should hide who they are and no one should require it of anyone else.

I think to fire someone for only that reason yes it should be. I don’t think it should infer any special or preferential rights or protections other than that.
