Am I the only one who feels this way?

"Equally Good" is of course, a matter of opinion.

Sometimes I think a meme making the front page is somewhat analogous to a young actress trying to become a Hollywood star. All things being mostly equal, thousands will try, only dozens will succeed. Right place, right time, aligned planets, blue moon, Sagittarius in retrograde, etc., etc.

On the other hand, when you see an obvious turd on the front page, it's usually because someone has started a brawl in the comments.

It's so dumb that the users everyone knows get more upvotes than the less known ones even though the less known ones make equally good stuff. I've never reposted someone else's stuff, spammed, or made bad stuff because I had no ideas (I prefer quality over quantity of the stuff I make). And I've never gotten more than ten upvotes.
