Working here for 27 years alongside some foodservice people I've developed a healthy skepticism in the opposite direction. As in: 'be grateful I don't smack you when I hear how hard you have it'. While I love the fact that some people see fit to do all the dirty work to provide me with good food, please don't let me hear you b!tch about your customers with your friends in a bar when I'm sitting in the next booth after a hard day of humping freight. Get a college education - you're smart enough. :P

22 years on the dock. Spent the first 5 in the purchasing office. Jumped at the chance to get out here in the out-of-doors. I handle about 60% - the other 40% is for the kitchen and I just point the way there. I don't despise all food service workers; the one's who bring me beer are great. But when someone here intimates I should do my job differently I have to restrain myself from laughing in their face. Then I do the job the way I know it should.

Cool! Well that's cool that you've had the same employer for a very long time, you don't see that too much anymore, that's something that I associate with the Greatest Generation kind of thing, but of course it's not unheard of these days of course, just not as common as it was back then. I understand what you're saying about someone else's opinion on who your job "Should" be done, I have no tolerance for that bullshit. Lol

Eh - the job's just okay. I don't stay in it because I'm the Greatest or anything, it's just steady money. And secure. The last time I seriously considered floating my resume out and about was back in 2008 and I thought I'd give this place a couple more months to get their shit together. Then the economy went t!ts-up and I was thankful I hadn't quit. A receiving clerk is essential; my boss and his immediate underlings are in greater danger of losing their jobs than I am. Fingers crossed.

Lol. I came up with this talking to my brother in law, he's been in the restaurant/food industry for 30 years and he was telling me crazy, funny and cool stories.
