Anyone overweight should lose about 20 lbs just by throwing out the skim milk, low fat stuff and 100 calorie snack packs. Drink lots of water (a gallon per day). Exercise 3-4 hours a week with a heartrate of about 145BPM. Thats it. Just eat real food. My cholesterol has never gone up from the first time I had it checked as a teenager. Actually it was 25 points lower last week. I ate tons of carbs and sugar right before my blood test last week to make sure everything works and my sugar was never a problem. I lost almost 30lbs just by throwing out the skim milk and low fat stuff. Obviously, get a blood test, blood pressure check and sugar check first. Then avoid alcohol and tobacco and anything prepared/frozen/microwave unless its natural. Avoid as much chemicals and preservatives as possible. Then, once you get into the habit, it gets easier to exercise more. And you can add more snack foods. I personally stick to lays potato chips (potato, salt & oil), peanut butter oreos and breyer's ice cream for morning, afternoon and evening snacks. I take fish oil for cholesterol, because my number is a little "elevated" and vitamin c, d and b complex, plus centrum (for extra help because I exercise too much now). Once you get to the point where you might be exercising too much you're good to go forever. It takes a few years to get there. I first focused on eating almost only real food for some years, because years behind a desk + snacks and unhealthy lunch food packs on pounds. I'm not a kid and my metabolism isnt what it was 20+ years ago so I dropped all soda, sweet drinks and sugar in my coffee, just that got me down around 10 more pounds. The most important thing is starting off slowly with exercise. Just a 45 minute walk in the park. Very light weights. And slowly work up to more. I started with embarassing small "girl weights" at home for a few years to make sure I didnt injure myself trying to lift more than I should. Aside from that, stimulants. If you're OK heart and blood pressurewise. A good preworkout drink with beta alanine, caffeine and yohimbine helps and increases weight loss. But I wouldnt add that right from the start, unless your ok with stimulants. A good post exercise low calorie protein shake helps a lot. Its easy once you find the time to cook the food from scratch and get to the exercise.
