I do NOT like reading this cause I just donated the bulk of my Dad's things... and he had some REALLY nice clothes and brand new suits, a tux and lots of shoes he only wore once ... all donated to wounded warriors.
Some of those suits cost him up to $1000 or more! And cost me several hundred to dry clean everything!
On their web page they explain that the donations are for those wounded warriors from Sept. 11, 2001 forward, and why. What you did was both kind, and generous.
All Disabled Veterans are Wounded Warriors, not just a select few! Wounded Warrior tv commercials do not say the donations are for only post 9/11 Veterans. Wounded Warriors project shouldn't pick which disabled Veterans get help!
I don't care... and I know my Dad wouldn't have cared WHO is helped... as long as a disabled Vet from ANY era was helped to get back on his or her feet and to be able to live life to the fullest.
I was afraid that it was going to line the pockets of able bodied administrators.
Next time I donate... which will be in a few weeks.. it will be to Deseret Industries.
Whoever it was that started Wounded Warriors, and got it going made that choice as is their right. Many help orgs. are pretty specific on who they help. I don't expect any harm is meant.
