I am 13 and I introduced myself to the 50's after learning the meaning of the song "American Pie" by Don McLean. I have been into the 50's and 60's for about two years now. It kind of explains why my nickname is "RitchieValens640". It is kind of sad that a lot of them are dead. Chuck Berry died on March 18th! The best decade ever is slowly killing off it's best singers (no literally).

Yeah, I noticed your name on another meme, but I figured you were older than 13, lol! I think it's great that you like that music, and it's cool that you were looking into the meaning of "American Pie".
That is a very interesting song, that I still listen to very closely.
I guess you're well aware of the infamous "coin toss" for who got to be aboard that fateful flight.

I watched Dion Dimucci's documentary about the day the music died. That is how I learned about a lot of the "behind the scenes" stuff that happened. Dion said that Buddy told him to "Take care of my guitar like you would take care of your testicles." Yes, he actually said that. It is a wonderful thing that these singers where not forgotten. Fun fact, I am thinking about doing a presentation on the day the music died once we get to the 50's unit! Take care man, have a nice day.

I live on the east coast and we have cable channels that play certain music genres. Right now, I have the "Solid Gold Oldies" on, and it's all 50's & 60's.
I have that on more than regular TV!
