There is a lot of evil in this world, which is the main reason I don't really believe in a higher being. I've never actually seen the mentality on the right, but maybe I'm reading it wrong of just not understanding it.

the right option is the logical flaw in the argument that evil present in the world negates the existence of God. Because without God as an objective standard for good and evil there is no way to call something evil. If there was no God evil and acts and good acts would just be acts, there would be no distinction. If you are genuinely curious about it I would suggest you pick up a small book called mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Lewis goes into greater detail as a former atheist he himself used to argue that evil disproved God, until that is he gave it deeper consideration.
