This is a great ad parody. I like the way they put the badge number as 69.

Oh, the number escaped me.

But that's the thing, some old ads are so bizarre that I'm not really sure if some are fakes,,,
This looked too pristine, but others may use faked aged paper backgrounds, etc,,,

And that's the beauty of this theme week: parodies are allowed. You saw the old style ad parody for Twitter, Facebook, and such. So far, only one ad that I know of was sent back to submitted status: an old racist ad that I'd upvoted and commented on. Either it was flagged or the mods decided it was a TOS violation. As a historical ad, even if it had a NSFW tag. I think it may have been because it was posted without commentary.

Prozac and Ritalin too,,,

Those old racist ones, or for treatments for women's 'hysterical' problems, etc, are astounding. Amazing how far we've come,,,

I've spent a lot of time on Usenet, finally dropping the service after 20+ years. I've seen most of the ads there. But there were no mods to push it back into submission, so pretty much, anything goes. And a group of jerks from a racist group decided they needed to take over one of the humor groups. After fighting it for a dozen years, I couldn't take it anymore.

Seems most outfits get taken over by the uglies eventually.

I remember those phone party lines, back in the early 90s, they got taken over one by one by crazies who paid 5, 10, 15 cents a minute just to stay on all day and hit a touch tone whenever anyone spoke in order to drown them out.

I just posted on a forum where people were wondering why that and chat on that site are dead. A clique of trolls took over, killed it, moved to Skype, then started coming back when they turned on each other there. And they can't figure out why what they killed is now dead.

I only been online 3 years, so that'd all I witnessed,,,

I got online Labor Day weekend, 1994. This doesn't include the closed intranet I used at work. AOL & Prodigy. Saw the trolling on AOL. Didn't see much of it on Prodigy, but it was everywhere. Move to the net...

Trolls are trying to take over here. I've been put on timeout by them too often. I just file a feedback form, problem corrected. I've filed so many, I think the Trolls may be throttled by the mods.

They're still out there, but I think they've been banned from doing anything to my account. I've only had one instance since going pro, and it was handled quickly.

I hope I don't jinx myself but the worst thing thats happened to me was 2 users ( i think it was the same person with alt acct) would make a derogatory comment on anything i posted or commented that was anyway racy. I ignored them and after a few weeks they disappeared.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I considered getting an alt just to combat my trolls. Talked with my cousin, discovered he had an account, so if I ever got time out from my trolls, he could keep people informed.

If you notice, I always keep an "inside voice" in my comments. Don't stoop to name-calling and such. Trolls, OTOH, have no such qualms. Cyberbullies. They don't want you to file reports, much less on them. I did the formal complaint, and since then, no problem. In fact, I've noticed a major shift in their posts. Let's just say that I've even upvotes some of their stuff. Are they mods? I don't know. But the change in their posts tell me that they have been out on notice.
