Kyp steals the Sun Crusher, a starfighter that has nearly indestructible armor and a weapon that can destroy a solar systems star which in turn destroys the planets in the system.
Kyp eventually is turned away from the dark side and rejoins Luke's academy and later becomes a master.
But Kyp is more of a "grey" Jedi. And believes in using parts of dark side training to help fight enemies.
He is sort of the Anakin of the new generation, minus the prophecy.
He also has his own suadron of Jedi pilots.
I highly suggest the Jedi Academy Trilogy of books by Kevin J Anderson and the New Jedi Order novels. :{D
