These scammers called my mom in the middle of the night and pretended to be the us embassy and said that my teenage son was in Jamaican jail.
Then "he" got in the phone and pleaded "please gramma... please!! Don't make me stay in here, I'm scared!
Please don't tell anyone I'm here! I promise I'll pay back the money as soon as I get home... please gramma!!! Please!!!!"
My mom was so alarmed and worried, she told the supposed us official that she couldn't drive at night and would go to Walmart and wire them the money as soon as it got light enough for her to safely drive.
I called my mom in the morning and she sounded so distraught...
She finally told me that my son was in a Jamaican jail...
I said "no... he's right here, eating his breakfast"
Then he got on the phone and was so confused cause the call seemed so real and she was positive it was him... she says it even sounded like him.
A few days later the scammers called back again and the kid who pretended to be my son was " gramma, why do you hate me? I haven't eaten anything in 3 days... I'm starving!!! Please send the bail money! Please gramma!!"
Again, it sounded like my son and tore at her heart.
It took my son traveling the next weekend 400 miles to my Moms to prove that he was safe and not rotting in some 3rd world jail cell!
Sick how these vultures prey upon the elderly!! :-(
