Grandfatherly advice: next time you tell someone you like them, have a reason if they asked why. It doesn't have to be a real deep, philosophical reason. You're Cute you're smart. You smell nice. You're talented. You treat people nicely. Even, "I'm not really sure, but there's something about you being you that I really like."
If you're still stuck on this boy, it's not too late. Just tell him that you considered his question and have an answer. If he blows you off rudely, you're better off without him, and at your class reunion in 30 years, you can compare how many divorces you've had. Dont laugh. If you're still with hubby number one, there's a good possibility he's on wife #2 or 3. Or between marriages.
I saw a picture of my Jr Hi crush a while back. I think she's on her third marriage, and at 60, husbands are hard to find. One lady that had a crush on me when she started high school recently reconnected. Not romance in the air, but good friends.
Like I said, though, if you still like him, tell him why. Guys love having their ego stroked. It takes a lot for a young person to say they like another.
And when a boy finally works up the gumption to tell you he likes you, don't blow him off with "why". Take him by the hand, invite him to sit down while you talk it over. Nicely ask him why he likes you. You may be surprised at just how nice of a person you really are.
