True Love Never Dies; 2800 Years Old Kiss; These human remains were found in 1972 in the archaeological site of Teppe Hasanlu in the Iranian province of West Azerbaijan. The site was the scene of a fierce military confrontation, which ended in a fire. The fire quickly spread through the town, trapping members of both sides. Scholars have noted that it is most likely that this couple was hiding from enemy soldiers, and suffocated to death during the fire, in what appears to be a last, eternal kiss. This photograph is preserved by the Penn Museum, and is officially called "The Lovers ".
