Sooo not what Hillel said. His statement is a flat: love your neighbor as yourself. I can give it to you in the original if you like. Shamai, otoh, was a contractor, and kind of a rough-and-ready guy. He had some attitude. Then again, so did Jesus, once in a while. I respect him for that.
