Yeah, If you look in the far right the temporary dam is there. The reason for this is because US civil engineers worked on decreasing the strain of erosion for the falls, they reinforced the rock bed. I mean an average of 2 million gallons of water comes down from them, so they want this natural beauty to stand a lot longer. :)

I don't remember what show I saw it on, possibly North America with Tom Selleck narrating, but they said that over time Niagra Falls has eroded back thousands of feet, if not miles, over the course of history. Crazy what a little water can do.
I've also been their with my family, odd thing about the trip was that I was not expect to as many trees as I did, I thought it was just mostly desert. XD
