I hate when comic movies have too many villains!

The fourth Batman movie (with George Clooney) had Bane, Mr Freeze, and Poison Ivy.

You just can't get invested with too many characters in the film.

On the other hand, I like Gotham and that has everyone in it.

Agreed, too many villains can really hurt a film. Gotham has an advantage since it's a tv show though, it has much more time to get you invested.

Exactly, everything's not compressed into a two hour movie.

Don't forget the Mandarin!

Yeah that was one giant China pandering clustermuck. I still enjoyed the new take on the Mandarin, but taken in context with how many ways the movie was bent for the China audience... in context, it's all completely inexcusable. That whole side of the franchise can fly a heli-carrier-shaped kite for me now for a long time after Winter soldier, not only for that reason, but for several others as well, but that's a huge one. Whedon, anti-gun, China pandering franchise... half the cast was up Hillary's ass for the election, just... gag. The whole situation was just core rotten. No way to support it without just feeling sick.

Whedon wasn't a problem in my opinion, i like the way he directs. it was just how much he tried to make people happy instead of trying to make a good sequel. The Russo brothers are definitely doing a better job at that. I wouldn't say the films are becoming anti gun, i personally just prefer them to fight it out or use their abilites when in combat, if falcon and black widow just shot everyone all the time things would get repetitive real fast. It makes sense for the winter soldier to go away from guns in some cases, considering he's just as strong as captain america and has an awesome metal arm. The china thing i'm not too sure about, i know it was a thing for Iron man 3, but that isn't so much a thing now, or not as noticable to be.
