I was with the missus almost 38 years. She kicked me out and expected me to come crawling back.

Ouch! 38 years? Damn! That's a long time man! Well, I guess she didn't know you that well (at that time) because she totally got that one completely wrong!

She misjudged because she didn't realize I learned to live without her decades ago. We were split up in the 80s, almost committed suicide, but got help. Discovered that I could live without her and we wound up getting back together. I would have been content to live the balance with her, but...

Saw her yesterday and she was civil, but her actions won't get us back together. Because of her heart, she can't even use sex as an inducement. Not that I'm short on that since the divorce. One partner is the same age as my son, the other even younger.

Yowzaa! Well, as bad as it got, and thankfully you had gotten help and got through that unhealthy (to say the least!) situation and became stronger because of it! Freud had a great quote....this is one i liked a lot....I struggled a lot with things and wondered why I must go through this....but looking back I've seen now that I've grown because of it...and it is beautiful! :)
