I'm in the same boat. Eddie's career had peaked and ebbed before I started school. Debbie Reynolds, OTOH, had a vibrant career, including the film, HOW THE WEST WAS WON, and the short lived Debbie Reynolds Show on TV.

While I can't think of a single song of Fisher's, I do recall something he was rather infamous about: his marriage to Elizabeth Taylor.

Is Debbie still running her museum in Vegas?

As far as I know she still tours the US and does a one woman show. I didn't know about the museum...

She closed the doors in 1997 and auctioned of the belongings over the years. Before the final auction, the previous three had brought in $26 million. One movie I had almost forgotten was her iconic film, SINGING IN THE RAIN with Gene Kelly and Donald O'Conner.

I'm a decade older than you and grew up when she was at the height of her career. Eddie Fisher was a crooner at a time when crooners were going to the wayside. He may have stayed at the top of his game like Sinatra, Crosby, and Dean Martin, but was slaughtered by the press for his divorce from Reynolds to marry Liz Taylor. He didn't die penniless, but he was far from his glory days riches.

Actually I have heard of Debbie Reynolds and I'm 21. Eddie Fisher that's a different story but not all of us are as uneducated as you make us out to be. You're right though that most young folks don't know who they are. They're too young to know.
