So many great comments, so little time

High speed internet opened the door for sharing memes and other graphics.

The point here, though, is that, while comments are good, you have to hang a topic out for people to comment. And good luck, because the vast majority of people will not post even an LOL or upvote what they see.

On here, the meme is topic starter. How people choose to react is how Interesting is the topic.

Too literal. This was intended to be a sarcastic (and absurd) statement about the awesome comment threads on Imgflip. Obviously, a comment without a meme is like a crunchberry without Cap'n Crunch.

I love the comment threads. Playing off others comments and memes, I'm in my element. I think some people are afraid to banter because I'm good. I get in some good discussions and laugh my ass off. I love a good one-upmanship, even when I can't oneup anymore. Can't call it losing, because I've had a hell of a ride.

And that's all I'm saying. Some of the greatest creativity happens in the comments

You're absolutely right. The meme is the foundation, however, I will stand by my premise that some of the greatest creativity comes from the comments. (And please understand that my meme was tongue in cheek)

I LOVE the comments. I agree that while the memes are what start it, the comments can get pretty funny and clever and are sometimes the best part :)

I'm in the same boat...I originally came here to generate memes for Facebook. It wasn't until much later that I stumbled across the social networking aspect (and thankfully before I'd pissed everybody off on Facebook). Comment on! :)

I went several months without even looking at the site. Now, I'm here a lot. Most of my points are from comments. These threads are hilarious and I'm amazed at how clever and funny everyone here is :-)

That is really the point of the original meme...not to take anything away from memes, but to point out how great the comments are...besides, if the meme were to read itself it would disappear in a cloud of logic
