It was designed to keep slavery but that is gone and this sick system of ignoring we the people in favor of bigots of the past has got to go with it. The “President of the United States” is considered as the only elected “Federal” official of “We the People of the United States,” but is actually elected by the “citizens” of the States in State elections, not elected by We the People of the United States; that is something very different! The fourteenth amendment, section one states "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." The second “and” in that sentence creates a “duel citizenship;” Federal and State. Yet in section 2, there is some archaic fuzzy math which the States must use to tally what will become that States "electoral college" votes, not votes of we the people; i.e., we the “citizens” of the United States, a separate “jurisdiction.” Therefore, after a Presidential election it is “States” we see tallied on the news in terms of "electoral college" vote tallies, a sum relevant only to the representation of States in the Federal government; not a sum of We the People (citizens) of the United States and that is wrong for at lest two reasons.
First, We the People are supposed to have a “one man, one vote” (i.e., one American, one vote) democracy, but because of the electoral college we do not!
Second, We the People are taxed by the Internal Revenue Service (A Federal tax), and when not having our votes as "Citizens of the United States" tallied as such in a popular vote tally in the election of our President the result is taxation without representation. In other words, it is a conflict of interest for "States" to have a dual say over how We the People (citizens) of the United States are taxed by the Federal government; e,g, States have; 1, Senators and Representatives of the States going to the United States Congress, representing the interest of the State they are from, to write those Federal tax bills and; 2, States also have “electors,” who are also Representatives of the citizens of States voting for who will be the President which decides whether on not to sign into law, or veto, those tax bills. We the Federal tax paying “Citizens” of the United States have no elected representative in the Federal jurisdiction representing our interest.
