You essay could become a book, if you knew someone who lived through the war. Just on thought: If you've read about rationing you know it was intended to spread hardship as evenly as possible on the home front. Did you know that rationing went on into the late 1940s in Britain? Did you know that tens of thousand of people starved to death in Europe? Even after the war? The topic is almost inexhaustible.
