To an extent, because nobody is ever going to match your politics exactly, you kind of have prioritise which of a candidate's positions are more important to you than others - a vote is never an endorsement of the full package because it just can't be.

Having said that, I agree with you: Trump's inability to at least pretend like a decent human being when the cameras are on (or when he tweets from his phone) should have been a deal breaker for WAAAY more people than it actually was, and that's not a good thing.
