Good old Buffalo Bill! When I first saw SotL, I thought it was a comedy. Went with some gay friends + one of them ran around inside the cinema doing the cape scene. Also like the scene with Starling + Lechter, with Lechter asking "You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes?"

I go around muttering, "Dr Lechter, Dr Lechter" from when he hangs up on her in the end...

Somehow Buffalo Bill manages to be over the top but without seeming faked, or like a parody, or unitentionally... Just in a bugged out way, the sicker he is, the funnier he is. He's so earnestly unselfconsiously duh. "Wait, was she a great big fat person?" You try to stifle the laugh because you think everyone in the theater might think you're some sick freako,,,
