Yes, the argument that "nobody ever died from using marijuana" is lame because what they really mean is nobody ever ODd from it . . . Yet. But to say that it's "safe" to use recreationally is ridiculous. We used to think tobacco was safe. Now we spend millions on healthcare, insurance and programs to help people kick the habit because it's been proven to be such a health hazard -- even for people who aren't actively using it. Just because there aren't studies showin the same thing for marijuana doesn't mean it's safer. It just means there haven't been studies on it because it's illegal to use in the first place. We also know how dangerous drinking is, so why would we want to add marijuana to the mix? Besides the carnage caused by DUI drivers, mass transit and heavy equipment operators, there's also the burden of society having to take care of children whose parents are too high to care for them and the loss of productivity and poor judgement in the workforce.
Anyway, all arguments that it should be legalized "because it hasn't killed anyone" are just dumb. I'll get off my soap box now.

Without doing research, I do feel by anecdotal evidence it is less dangerous than alcohol, but there are plenty of stoned drivers who have killed people, including themselves.
I'm for legalizing it, because I feel it's no less dangerous than drinking and smoking cigarettes at the same time.
Statements like this make your argument weaker though.
