The exception to that is every single user that rises from obscurity to become well-known. E.g. DashHopes, ghostofchurch, even Raydog. When they started, they weren't popular, and other users were in the top spots. They became well-known, and overcame the natural popularity of the users before them, because the majority of people here find their memes and comments funny.
