Actual unemployed in the US is over 15,500,000 people. The govt only says 7 million because they don't count people like me who have exhausted our UI benefits so its a false number to make it sound better than it is. Go to "USdebtclock.org" and see the numbers for yourself !

Really? Huh. Every Wall Street and global finance center economist uses the only official data which I posted.

The measure you are thinking of is the "participation rate". It is considered an "alternate measure", not official, which has been the same data capture method since 1940s.

Unless Mr Trump wishes to turn the country into a N Korea type dictatorship, participation in the labor market is voluntary. Only communists and dictators force people to work. If people have given up, I don't want a communist or dictator telling them they have to report to work after their unemployment benefit period ends. Do you?

Also, the participation rate now is at the level at the beginning of W.

Just sayin.

Yes. U3 is the ONLY official rate with data going back to early 40s. U6 includes those who do not want to work, but are employable. U3 is used by OECD, World Bank, CIA (fact book), BIS, G20, .... and the methodology for U3 is nearly identical in all developed economies.

During the Obama years, the number of Americans below the poverty line is up 3.5 percent. Real median household income: down 2.3 percent. Americans on Food Stamps — 33 million then, 46 million now: up 39.5 percent. Americans who own homes: down 5.6 percent. National debt — $10.63 trillion then vs. $19.19 trillion last Wednesday: up 80.5 percent.
The percentage of families in which no one is employed has grown from 17.8 in 2008 to 19.7 in 2015, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.

No disagreement on the deterioration on the back of the Bush recession, the worst since the great depression.

In light of the catastrophe created then, i am surprised we are not worse off than we are, with the annual deficit now below that of 2007, of course as you point out, after a huge surge in debt. At least on the run rate, debt is increasing even less than it did under W.

Now imagine if W had not dragged us into Iraq, and not told us in 2001 that shopping is patriotic, with the aid of Greenspan pushing rates low, encouraging cashing out homes to buy SUVs, remodel kitchens, and vacation in Mexico.

The US is an economic mess. Trump is right about one thing: we need to bring back manufacturing. However, he cannot do it because he has no ability to control congress, and no willing ear to negotiate with. Unfortunately, Democrats also do not have the ability to bring back manufacturing.

The only way to bring back manufacturing is to redefine patriotism as something other than carrying guns, pounding chests, and brandishing the battle flag of the confederacy. Patriotism is how you spend your money. The people of this country can bring manufacturing and small business back, by respectively buying made in USA and avoiding Walmart et. al.

I wish it were true. Walmart has been on a campaign to boost "assembled in the USA" where 3-5% of the value of the product is USA. Go to a BMW dealership and see the USA content of a BMW X5 -it is less than 5% and the people in Spartanburg claim is is US made. It is a joke. What makes manufacturing attractive is not the assembly (which is why Germany is happy to ship BMW Mercedes plants here and into mexico); it is the business surrounding the entire supply chain. This is why GM and Chrysler were bailed out, and not other businesses. The supply chain for manufacturing is very lucrative and has a much higher multiplier effect on GDP. I am trying to make a meme to demonstrate :)

Patriotism is an emotional attachment to a nation which an individual recognizes as their homeland. This attachment, also known as national feeling or national pride, can be viewed in terms of different features relating to one's own nation, including ethnic, cultural, political or historical aspects.
It has nothing to do with Spending Money...jeeze.

And all those people, from left to right, sabotage it with their wallet, yet thinking the emotional attachment achieves something, where only the pocket book behavior actually does something for the country they care about.

So explain how taxing us puts us into prosperity ? How does sending Billions of dollars to foreign countries help Americans , because thats what the Government does ?
0 ups, 8y
You are completely clueless as to how foreign aid works. They are subsidies for US firms. US gives x million to x billion to a country, which has to under the terms of receiving it, buy US goods and services with it. They buy everything from consulting to their central banks to weapons, to grains and automobiles. You can educate yourself by reading about all the contractor bids for USAID. Take the latest $38B defense aid package to Israel. Key beneficiary: Boeing. There is a reason foreign aid passes through both DEM and REP congress without issues because it is a lobby game.

I never said a thing about taxing.
