I posted a meme that got over 200 upvotes here, it got 2 downvotes before any views even registered. Then another meme that I posted there and on reddit got 4 downvotes and 4 upvotes. But some redditors liked it and also posted it on imgur, since it wasn't me a new user it got thousands of views and had 78 upvotes last time I checked. I realize it's hard to be seen here when you are new. Still we don't attack new users with downvotes and negative comments. I've only been on there yesterday and today, I think I've got one slightly positive comment out of around 20, that's my experience but then everybody knows what an arsehole I am ;)

Yeah, it can. You also have to be careful how you word things. I've found the Skyrimmods and Skyrim subreddits to be good, but the Final Fantasy Record Keeper one? I beat my first Ultimate+ (really, REALLY hard boss) back in July (the post I mentioned above), and it got downvoted because my characters didn't have the right Record Materia (a second "accessory" item that gives bonuses to characters). >:(

If when I first googled meme generator I had clicked on that site instead of this one, I seriously doubt I would still be making memes. Maybe make them just for my friends, but I doubt I would have learned anything about memes from the people there like I did here. It might be alright if you're established over there, they just seem to not want any new users to do well in my opinion.

I was there too

I can imagine, I was just bored and thought I'd see if some of my memes would do the same without people knowing who I was. They got plenty of views very fast, but only one of the 10 I tried ended up with more upvotes than downvotes. I'm glad I already had confidence in meme making and was able to laugh it off, I can't imagine what it would feel like if those were my first memes ever.

I got lots of looks, thousands in a few minutes sometimes, but the downvotes kept pace with the upvotes and eventually almost always overtook the upvotes. I didn't feel hurt, but I knew I'd alway be spinning my wheels. When I joined imgflip the first time I had no idea it was a community. Simply a place to make memes. So that's what I did until somebody commented on one of my memes. And I was completely unaware of points too. This community is so unique! :))))

That was my experience, I don't know if the top users just downvote everything to stay the top users or what was going on. They definitely aren't used to people replying back to their rude comments lol.This one person told me my meme needed to make sense "or" be coherent, and that it needed either a punch line "or" a joke. So I replied, Can you have a joke without a punchline? I'm sure you're comment makes sense coherently but I must not be smart or intelligent enough to figure it out.. hehehe I can be a stinker if I want to ;)

I'm not sticking around long enough to figure it out, it was just an experiment, which reinforced my belief of how lucky I am to have clicked on a link to imgflip first ;)

I was just looking for a place to create a single meme for my friend. I looked through the memes on the front page, and loved the positive feedback, even if it wasn't for mine. I also love that people comment with memes :P. Even tho I'm not very popular here, I love the positive feedback that I DO get. Remember we had (or still have...not really sure) a user on here that continued to complain about the top users? Always complaining that his memes never made it tothe front page and only top user's meme did. We, as top users, were trying to help him out but he refused to listen to our advice. Guess he's never been to most other meme making site.

That's prolly why he is still around changing his user name every week, if he has problems with this site I can't even imagine what he thinks of the others lmao!!!!

I've already been reading some comments on top photos and memes and I'd safely say that about 70% is rude and hateful. Another 10% is borderline. I'm just trying to figure out the system there right now. It seems more complicated than this site.

Okay, so I posted a meme there about 20 minutes ago and it has already gotten over 150 views, 3 comments (only one "bad") and 5 points. Not sure if that's good or bad. Lol! The one thing Iike about that site already is the fact when you submit a meme, it posts right away. There doesn't seem to be any waiting period. Overall, though, it seem like a mess.

Yeah they post right away and you get a bunch of views really fast, but that's about it, unless you get a ton of points of course. You're doing better than I did ;)

So far, I like this site far better. I'll just post a few of my older memes from here and see what they do over there.

I've also been experimenting with reddit, there you can post links to memes here and drive traffic towards them. I had one meme get close to 500 upvotes and still going with close to 30,000 views. The negative to positive comments are pretty even, you just have to figure out which subreddit to post your stuff to and that is not easy. But it's fun to experiment and see how your stuff does at other sites, imgflip will always be home to me though ;)

Alright, I just made one too, I've actually had an account there before Imgflip, just to post something weird and embarrassing to spam on YouTube, but I just deleted that. Here it is, let's see how many downvotes it's gonna get :)
