I'm not sure i understand the problem this solves

It cuts out about 3 steps.

For example, say I wanted to use the "you just went full x you never go full x" template (which isn't one of the Popular Memes) on a meme comment, but I don't have that picture. I'd have to search for it, right-click and save it, then upload it on the Meme Generator. THEN I could use it for the meme comment from My Templates.

The problem that can arise from this is that I probably will never again use that image, or very rarely so, but it will replace the oldest template in My Templates, which I may actually use all the time and will have to re-upload.

If "single black line" is in your My Templates already, you just use it and click Add Image, making ALL templates on Imgflip more readily available for meme comments.

Oops! Didn't actually try that for myself... Guess you can't right-click and save it, huh?

Well, what you can do is create your own... I opened Microsoft Paint, set the width to1000, used the paintcan to make it all black, then set the height to 1, and saved it. This I uploaded on the Meme Generator (naming it and making it available to other users, of course).

nice.. i've just been adding an image i want and then resizing it to cover up the original template (typically boromir, tho sometimes i'll start with a different one for a different aspect ratio)...

Never thought of trying that... But you're right, the image size ratio would be a factor, particularly if you were trying to use a template that just doesn't match up dimensions with any of the Popular Meme templates and My Templates without looking too squashed... Then you'd STILL have to go through the whole rigmarole of searching, right-clicking, saving, uploading on top of all you'd already done.

I let the mods know about your idea in a Feedback form. I also suggested the possibility of putting a single black line or similar in the default list of Popular Templates, so users can add an image below it. That way, people wouldn't have to upload the template themselves to use this option (and there would be fewer duplicates of that template on the site). :)

It's been a bee in my bonnet for a long time, and it's not like Imgflip was going to fix the problem (or they're taking forever to do so). That it took this long to think of a short-cut like that just shows I'm not THAT smart.

If only you knew how many people win the internet everyday because of me! LOL But it is a good idea.
