A few months ago I had to because whatever they did after V36 or something caused FireFox to crash when launching it. I downloaded V35 and turned updates off. At least then I could use it. Then I'd check every few weeks to see if the new version worked or not. Just make sure you save the install file somewhere so that you can keep reinstalling it in case any attempts at updating keep providing the same results.
