Mooseman is right: war is hell. You have not failed: you did what you were trained and programmed to do. The failure is in our own military system that fails to retrain and deprogram back into civilian life. Your walk to the mailbox, you subconsciously look for a telltale sign a landmine is in your path. You can't drive down the street without worrying about an IED heading your way. That mother playing with her baby in the park cause your sensors to go off, wondering if the child is boobyteapped.

You want to return to a carefree civilian life, otherwise you'd teup right now.

Again,oosan is right: seek counciling. You can get it from your clergyman, tour local mental health clinic, Al-Anon, or even the VA.but get it.

I'm so sorry for your pain, and grateful for your service, please find someone to talk to, you don't have to go through everything alone, and you don't always have to be strong, let someone be strong for you, let someone hold you up until you can be strong again, you will come through this, we all have the light and the darkness in us, you choose which one to feed.
