Michigan is currently led by Republican Governor Rick Snyder. Pennsylvania is currently led by Tom Wolf, but was formerly led by Republican Tom Corbett. Maryland is currently led by Republican governor Larry Hogan. Alabama has long been a stronghold of American economic and social conservatism, and is currently led by Republican governor Robert J. Bentley.

Bob, I live on a Red state, but we were already on austerity measures because the funds collected by the state magically "disappeared". Over 3/4 of a billion dollars. The only reason those funds were discovered was because the conservative Republican, you know, the fiscally responsible guy, Murdoch, decided to run for the Senate. It seems the money was "put into the wrong account". Meanwhile, across the state, austerity measures were already in play, and had been for a long time. Cities that got the deepest cuts were the progressive cities and towns.

Cities are dramatically affected by the economic decisions of the Republican governors and our current Republican-controlled Congress.

Worst mayor in US history, Hugh J. Addonizio. Convicted for extortion and stealing public funds. Ran Newark into the ground. The governor had to call in the National guard to restore order.
