You know your theology. Calvinistic pre-election always seemed to defeat the purpose of Christian belief to me. If you're already set - or not selected - then why bother doing anything one way or the other? Not being a believer now I wouldn't be able to engage with you on personal religious scale, but I was baptized and raised in the Presbyterian church - which is as secular as you can get and still be a religious denomination - but when I studied the precepts of the founder, John Knox, and the influence of John Calvin, I found it hard to reconcile my mindset with the idea of predestination. Nobody in my old church seemed to know or care about Calvinism so it wasn't an influence on me early on. If one can't come to the teachings of Jesus of free will then it seems it contains little of salvation. So in essence I do agree with you in the sense that someone who CHOSE to believe the gospel might be considered predestined.
