Lol. I've never seen it but I didn't know Michael Keaton played him. I didn't care for his Batman movie, but at least it was better than Clooney's. Now the people who made that must have been hitting the paint fumes pretty hardcore. Lol

YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE KEATON BATMAN FILMS?!? lol I loved the first three. And I love the three Bale films. I can't see Afleck as Batman. But I'm not really a DC fan, I just like some of their stuff like Batman, Watchmen, I think Constantine is a DC property, and I think there might be others.

But yes, the B&R film sucked. It was like the director smoked some crack, snorted a few lines of coke, shot up some meth, a little pcp, and a little molly for the weird sexual stuff, and just spray painted some words on some paper and the cast and crew was like "sure, we can do that".

When they should have intervened on the fan's behalf. Much like TFA.

Have you seen Beetlejuice? :{
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
Nah, I've heard of it and seen the character but I never knew that was Keaton.

The Nolan Batman movies have lost some pizzazz and were overrated at the time due to Batman and Robin IMO. They're decent though. Bale's Batman voice kinda sounds like he's been huffin' paint too lol. The sad thing is that I actually liked Batman and Robin when I was a kid and had all the toys lmao.
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
I had some of the penguin toys from Batman Returns and this sort of mini Batjet from the animated series I think.

I was more into sci fi/fantasy, Anime, video games, Marvel comics, Transformers, Micro Machines, Exo-squad, Jurassic Park, Beast Wars, and Star Wars. But mainly Star Wars.

Bale and Caine are good in The Prestige. So when Batman came out I figured it would be decent.

The first three with Keaton and Kilmer are good to me in a sense that they homage the 60's TV show. Which I always remember as slanted camera angles as a kid.

I loved the Batman animated series and the Superman spinoff they made later. That and the X-Men animated series. The 80's-90's kid's shows had better content. Like Cartoon Network in the mid-late 90's. :{

Yeah I used to watch a lot of the Batman and Superman cartoons from the 90s. That's probably when I was most into Batman. Star Wars was still my fav though. I tried to keep my Sw toys and Batman toys seperate I remember lol.

Affleck was pretty good I thought but it's hard to gauge since the main focus wasn't on him. It's hard to root for him cause he's such a douchebag though. Him and Matt Damon.
3 ups, 8y,

I've always used any of the other 3.75" figure lines when I played Star Wars because hey could always be aliens or some kind of vehicles.

'Imagine, if you will, a T-Rex, biting on to the Millennium Falcon, as it's trying to take off'. And we had a perfect yard for playing.

Matt Daaaamon could be Robin and that would at least be hilarious. And his name would be Dick! lol

I liked Affleck as Daredevil though. I just don't see him as Batman. He's more of a Cyclops to me.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck suffer from being the same guy in everything. They're like the Nickelback of actors. :{P
3 ups, 8y
Lmao! It would be hilarious if Damon was Robin.

Did you hear him say that no more guns should be sold? And Affleck was on Bill Maher defending Islam (against Bill Maher). They do play the same character pretty much every movie. Hell, Damon has been stranded off-planet awaiting rescue how many times now? Lol

There's a new Batman animated movie "The Killing Joke" I wanna check out. I'm assuming Joker is in it voiced by Mark Hamill like usual.

All I can say about the PT's lack of on location shots is that it's mostly myth, and in ROTS's case, the prequel hate started with the SE.

Where could they have filmed that would have looked like Mustafar? Nowhere. Same with Felucia. And Mygeeto. And Utapau. Kashyyyk had parts of China filmed. And all these planets had miniatures involved.

If Lucas had done as you wished, it would have limited what planets he went to. And wouldn't have looked as good AT THE TIME. We're looking at 1999-2005 cgi after the fact of Avatar and other post 2009 level graphics.

Oh I liked the LOTR and Hobbit films fine. I was just using them as an example. I just like Star Wars better than other franchises and hold it higher than them.

I don't think the Yoda looks that much better than 2 or 3, but it's interesting seeing him as cg in TPM.

I prefer the puppet for TPM though. It made sense that Yoda age a little. And it's odd looking like the Neverending Story or Dark Crystal puppets.

It's way better than TFA's jakku bird puppet. That's for sure.

The Jabba is the same as on my dvds. I have an older version of TPM, but the other 5 are newer. And that Jabba is really only a little better. But I was fine with the first 97' version myself.

Obi's call is the newer pre-bluray version. Again, I didn't have a problem with it, either way.

My dvds don't have the lightsaber problem you mentioned.

I loved the Special Editions and Prequels. I never had any gripes with them other than being 14 and rolling my eyes at Jar Jar. I didn't hate any of it though. :{
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
I'm not saying that any of those planets from ROTS shouldn't have been done the way they were, just that a couple of real location shots like those in Episodes 1 and 2 in addition to those Episode 3 planets somewhere else would've been cooI. And any rocky terrain environment could've been edited to look like Mustafar. But I get that it would've cost a lot more to do that. And like I said, it's all so well done with the mixture of CGI and miniatures that it's hard to believe there weren't any scenes filmed on location.

It really bugs me when people talk shit on Aotc in particular. It seems to be the prequel that gets bashed most these days. I don't get what the problem is/are with any of the prequels. I don't have a problem with any of the SE changes. I like all the versions.

I just realized watching a video for RO that Alan Tudyk from Firefly voices K2. And have I mentioned how hot Felicity Jones is? Lol
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
It would have to be Tatooine. And they couldn't just edit some random earth location to be what Mustafar looks like on screen. I think if you saw them do a real world location and tried to make it look like what they filmed on set you'd find that the way they did it is better.

AotC was great to me. I love the serial feeling Lucas went for. It really made the "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." mean more.

Yeah I mentioned that before about the Firefly connection. He's got great timing. I can see him doing video games as K-2so. Kaytooso.

Jyn? I wouldn't say she's "hot" but she's okay. Her and Daisy are the kind of girls that blend into a crowd for me. Like a 6/10. Not that that isn't better than nothing or not a great catch in the long run.

But they should at best be the lead male's love interest. Not a lead female that we all want to shag.

They're getting decent actors and all, but they're ruining it and the great visuals by having lame stories mainly. It's not so much the choice of two Star Wars films in a row with female leads when it's a boys toy line. I mean, come on.

Donnie Yen is a great actor and martial artist, but from what I've seen in the trailers, they pissed away his performance. Just like they did to the guys form the Raid in TFA. They made them as bad as Guavian Death Gang Figures!!! :{P
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
Yeah I loved the old-timey feel to AOTC and the mystery subplot.

I think of the synthetic weed when I hear K2 lol. I don't know what Yen has been in or anything about the raid dudes, but I remember people thinking they would have a fight scene before TFA came out. And then they ended up just standing there like the Guavians! I just watched TFA a couple days ago and busted out laughing when Han says, "oh great, it's the Guavian Death Gang". Lmao

I just hope RO has a serious and dark tone still after the alleged reshoots, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think chakotay is downvoting all my memes. I've had a couple lately just hit a wall on page 3 or 4 and started going down. That's what happened to that Leo trolling one. It hasn't even got to page 2 with 20+ upvotes. What a scumbag.

I'll look into them. They sound like a movie called Ricky-oh. Have you seen that one? It's pretty wild. The main character punches through someone's chest lol. And there's a ton more gruesome shit like that.

I wonder if the Knights of Ren will be in 8. There's a theory that Rey's vision of Kylo in the rain with those dudes was actually the future. I'm not sure though.

I wish that chakotay would get Ip banned already.
3 ups, 8y,

I've seen Ricky. The Raids and TMFNW and OB aren't over the top like that. They have some gore but not near as much as Ricky. They're more serious and try to be realistic.

And there's Ichi The Killer and Audition. Those are two Japanese films that are pretty gorey and heavy on sadism. Not that I like that, but seeing these f**ked up characters is kind of fun sometimes.

I think Rey is going to be a prodigal child that Kylo is jealous over. That's his motivation for turning. She outdoes him all the time.

And I think she somehow held them back when they were destroying Luke's academy.

Did you see my Kylo is a Mass shooter comments the other day?

Adam Driver, Adam Lanza. Kylo kills students at Lukes academy and a parent, Han.

Kylo also orders the raid on Jakku to massacre the town. Mass Shooting event. Kylo Lanza.

Disney is f**ked up. Because that's no coincidence/synchronicity. That's a pattern.

Yeah I wish Chokesgoatspray would just move on or get banned. :{

JJ is probably just lying. It's Han and Leia more than likely. Especially since they're ruining the character arcs of characters. It would make sense that Luke is a dried up old spinster of a f**kup. Can't have any strong conservative males.

With the way they caved on Thrawn, I kind of see them just reimagingni all the main EU characters in Disney's new female oriented fan fictions.

I can't tell if that's d2 or not. I do think it's weird that there are these memes popping up that ask people to reveal personal information like real pics, names, states, etc. That seems like a dick move a troll like Chokegoatspray would do to get credit cards or something. :{

What?!?

He was prequel bashing her too?!?

She had nothing to do with 1-3!

Does he hate Hayden Christensen that much?

And she is really just the female Anakin. Just being fair. She cried a few times in one film.Over people she knew less than a day or two. Luke didn't cry till he burned Vader from my memory, and that was a single tear kind of thing. He was holdin' it back!

And she freaked out over a vision. Anakin only freaked out when he found his dying mother in a hut like she'd been raped for weeks. Or that Padme could have died falling out of that transport.

People aren't being fair to Hayden's portrayal of Anakin. They love when Daisy Ridley does it, cause she's cute and smiles a lot. And you just want to pinch her cheeks! :{P

That is why the film copies the OT so hard. He's got a crush on Harrison Ford and thinks ESB is the best one. The prequel/SE bashers are predictable.

I mean, TFA even copies the PT in many ways. Jakku is JUST like Mos Espa from TPM. Minus podracing in the film. The "Sith" villain has a new lightsaber type.

Side note: The Stormtroopers were also used as comic relief like Rebels and Clone Wars. The OT ST's weren't ever funny to me. Even when the Ewoks were knockin' em with rocks and flying into them on ropes. The ST's were never seen as funny or comic relief to me. It's okay, and expected, on Rebels and Clone Wars. But the films were always more mature. :{

Well to be fair, Rey didn't ACTUALLY cry until Kylo's interrogation scene, and that was great acting IMO. :p I hear ya though, she did freak out over Finn after barely knowing him. But that's JJ's shitty writing, not Daisy's fault. Anyone who bashes Hayden is a moron, and JJ is dumb for giving in to the prequel hate and catering to those that do.

No I don't think stormtroopers were ever meant as comic relief in the OT. I'm not sure why that changed. I guess because people got used to battle droids being used that way?
3 ups, 8y,

I kind of hate that we disagree on her skills, but it's fun discussing Star Wars like this.

My point was mainly that her level of skill is only equal to Hayden's. And they're both mediocre, but not terrible. Hayden's best moment is when he's writhing in the dirt yelling at Obi. "I hate you!" He looks and acts like Benicio Del Toro in that moment. Daisy just sort of stares and smiles. She's just a cute nobody chick they put in as a lead. Notice she wasn't nominated for the role. Dicaprio at least was nominated a bunch of times before winning Best Actor.

Those commercials they ran about 'we're going to use more practical effects' and the articles about getting rid of the "bad taste" the prequels left in fans mouth are so infuriating. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SE AND PT ARE HAN SOLO FANBOYS. They're butthurt over the Greedo scene. Period. That's what started all this hate towards the PT and Hayden.

I know the ST's weren't meant to be comic relief in the OT. They were though in Rebels and TFA had quite a few.

Really, TFA wasn't serious enough. They made way too many jokes. And the imitations of real life "modern" speaking mannerisms in it is terrible.

Rogue One and 8 are going to suffer from the same problems. Because it's not JJ or LucasFilm's fault, it's Disney's. They have the agenda. They are the ones who are the ball lickers! :{
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
Well I doubt that Leo would have been nominated if he had played Anakin. The academy hates George Lucas for being anti-Hollywood and never give SW the respect it deserves.

I thought Hayden was great too. I agree that the Han change was probably the catalyst behind all the BS. I don't know why people thought Vader yelling "noo" was lame or funny. And people bitched about it being added to the blurays before he picks up Palpatine. Most prequel and SE bashers were just stupid hipsters going with the "crowd" thinking it's "cool" to hate on SW before TFA came out and Disney is stupid for not realizing that.

I like the fact that there was more on location shots and less CGI but I don't like their attitude about it. Like they're superior to the prequels for doing that and shooting on 35mm film. My only complaint about the prequels would be that too much CGI was used at times. I thought the clones in their armor should've been real people with costumes. They could've found a few people who were the same size/build and replicated them like they did with the wookies on Kashyyyk. But it didn't detract my enjoyment of the prequels and again JJ's and Disney's superiority complex pisses me off. Even Kathleen Kennedy seems to have that attitude.

I wonder how serious RO will be. They've made it seem like the stormtroopers will be a serious threat like enemies from a serious war film. The death/shadow troopers seem intimidating. But then again, it was rumored that 40% of the film was reshot for being "too serious" so who knows. I'd like for it to be dark and serious.
3 ups, 8y,
1 reply
You got a great point about HW not nominating Star Wars actors. But they still nominate the crew and I think they've won a few for the prequels. But maybe HW couldn't ignore them on those awards?

When Vader yelled no I felt bad for Anakin as a character. The Emperor is lying to him telling him he killed her and you know that she just physically gave up/had too much stress.

Vader says no before he picks up Palpatine? Cool.

Disney is definitely enabling them and their behavior. They successfully divided the fan base into true fans and hipsters.

Actually, the claim that they have less cgi is still in question and more than likely not factual. Look at all the establishing shots of cities and locations that HAD to be cgi. And there wasn't a physical model made for any of the starfighter explosions. The PT at least had physical models blowing up.

Lucas didn't have the money to make all the suits of armor though. So he HAD to use cgi. And that was his points about the PT's use of CGI. It's also cheaper because they didn't hire a bunch of extras that would have to have multiple takes for each scene.

I think they should have had some scenes with physical armored troopers, but only when practical. Like Commander Cody should have been Temura in a suit of Clone armor.

But the idea that the PT used "too much" cgi is another false claim that those butthurt Solo lovers are pushing. They had to find stuff to complain about.

But you should watch the behind the scenes stuff that show how much of the PT was practical.

I also guarantee that there are cg troopers in TFA and Rogue One.

KK seems to have been waiting to get rid of Lucas. At least IMO.

RO will be as serious as a Transformers film. They'll be cracking one liners every other line. K-2so is already a walking punchline from what they've shown.

And interesting theory I have is that R2 will be disguised as C2-B5 and have some cameo in the film. But not likely.

Exactly. The death/shadow troopers LOOK badass, but will be cannon fodder for the good guys. Just like ST's. They have one that will be like Phasma/Fett already too.

They could have easily avoided all this flak had they just adapted the source materials properly. :{

Yeah, I think the acedemy ONLY nominating SW for visual effects/costume design is their way of spiting George. Like they're saying that SW is only popular because of special effects and not story or anything else.

Oh I know about the prequel practical effects too...I've seen all the docs. I was mainly referring to the clones when I talked about too much CGI at times. And I would've liked if the Mustafar duel extended out to an on location shot where they could've added lava. And you're right about the amount of CGI in TFA, there's a lot. They did more on location shots than the prequels which I like though, but their claim of less CGI is BS and just to please the butthurt haters. I loved the on location shots of episode 1 and 2, like Anakin and Padme's scenes on Naboo (Italy) and where they shot Theed in one. I just wish there had been more because those environments were amazing and George did a great job picking those places. I get that he did more studio shots and used CGI for the clones to save money though.

There were more changes to the blurays that are all really cool. You should check them out on youtube. CGI Yoda in TPM is awesome. Vader's no in Jedi is a great add.
3 ups, 8y,

I don't think they could have found a location that would give Lucas what he wanted. Lucas wanted them to both be in the shot like that, so they needed to be fairly close.

Lucas is imitating a certain 30's-40's serial type of acting. He wanted to look the way we saw it.

And you don't mean shoot them by actual active lava right? You mean shoot scenes of a real lava location, then crop in the actors to look like they're standing there or something right? Cause they're not going to risk, on any film, the actors being that close to lava. It's a safety concern.

And is Obi a douchebag for leaving him to die? Anakin killed several children and innocent Jedi. Who knows who else he killed in his turn to the dark side.

I don't, can't see Obi Wan as a douchebag for that. He's a douchebag for not telling Luke Leia is his sister. I still get why he had to, but still, that would be embarrassing.

ROTS had aerial shots that were real locations. But yeah, no acting in real locations. But the sets were nice enough. And ROTS used a lot of miniatures.

TFA has eight locations, but still has as many studio scenes. That's the point. They made a big deal out of it and REALLY they just manipulated a graph to show their data set. They do have more locations in the one film, TFA, but, they have as many studio scenes with CGI in them as the PT films do.

My DVD's only have that one scene redone after Jinn dies. I think. I'd have to rewatch it. I think it looks fine though from the youtube videos I'm seeing. Lucas's stories.

I like parts of the new stuff, but it's all so fake and HW. There's no substance to it anymore.

And they screwed people like me who were funding SW throughout the years keeping it going, by claiming that bullshit of "creative freedom."

It's like that scene where Padme says "So this is how Democracy dies..." except it's the franchise dying. Or at least transforming into something it's not supposed to be.

It's a franchise meant for young BOYS like GI JOE and TMNT, but they want it to be a GIRL'S show now. Not one for both. But FOR GIRL'S. To make money off all the women now.

Like if they took Transformers and made all the robots feminine. Or the Turtles. It's not like I want to take their properties and make them for boys. And if they want better properties, they should MAKE them, not TAKE them.

I know how I sound saying this kind of thing, but I think it's the UN emasculating the American male. :{D
3 ups, 8y
Yeah, the Obi being a douchebag was tongue in cheek. Anakin was gone. I just meant after their dialogue, maybe he could've fallen down? And yeah, I meant lava added in post. I just would've liked to see some acting on location in Rots. Not that I think that Peter Jackson is superior. I actually don't like lotr which is weird because I love that kind of genre and love GoT obviously. Lotr and Jackson are just incredibly overrated IMO. And I think it's funny that the Hobbit trilogy has gotten hated on.

I just love a combination of on location shots, mixed with studio shots when necessary. There's just something about a real place. Even if it's just in a desert.

So you have the original dvds from '04? Yeah I think they made Yoda CGI back then for that shot with Obi at the end. But the blurays replaced the puppet completely. The CGI TPM Yoda is newer so it actually looks even better compared to 2 and 3. And CGI Jabba from Anh is improved. The lightsaber effects that somehow got f**ked up on the dvds are fixed too. Obi's krayt call was changed.
3 ups, 8y,

Yeah that makes sense. They do try to argue that his SE tramples over the crew's works and I was like so what? It's Lucas's story, not the crew's. Lucas chose a crew member's specific art piece ONLY because he felt it suited his world. Anyone like Doug Chiang, should feel nothing but gratitude towards Lucas.

It's just not "practical"(jab-jab) to shoot principle actors next to actual lava or on actual rock faces. Again, Lucas chose an indoor set for financial practicality as well as common sense safety concerns. Think about RotK and how they filmed the climax all on green screen stages like Lucas. NO ONE ever bashes Jackson for that. And that's because HW is invested in the Lucas bashing.

How many location shots did TFA have compared to the PT?

That's a better question to have answered. Jakku, Maz's planet, the rebel base, and the scene at the end with Luke? Right?

The PT has more from what I'm seeing here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_filming_locations

How many locations did TFA have? Cause to me, most of it is on a set not an actual location.

And look at that, Mustafar did have actual lava composited in. :P

The PT had one more location than the OT too. And yes, some of them were just for aerial shots, but the OT relied A LOT on matte paintings for it's scenes.

So again, the arguments against the PT are mostly unfounded.

Lucas only gets flak because of his outsider status. Jackson used way more cgi and sets than Lucas and gets all kinds of praise for doing essentially the same thing. Same with JJ and TFA. TFA has a few locations, uses a bunch of sets, and still relies mainly on its use of cgi.

CGI Yoda is on the DVD too. The no isn't from my memory. But I kind of feel like watching it now. lol :{
3 ups, 8y
Yeah there was a real shot of lava, and the volcano eruption was a real shot, I just meant an actual on location shot mixed with the real lava could've been cool. They were just limited because of shooting it on stage. Like if they had been on location, Anakin could've fallen off a small cliff out of Obi's reach so he wouldn't have looked like such a douchebag for leaving him there lol.

There's more on location shots right now than TFA, but it's 2 movies to 1 right now. Episodes 1 and 2 had a decent amount of on location shots. I'm not really talking about them. Rots had none. That's the only thing I would change about the prequels on top of the CGI clones if I could. It's hard to believe that ROTS was filmed entirely in studio because it was so well done, but I just wish it had SOME on location shots because the real environments that George chose throughout the saga added so much to the beauty of the films. The only shot on location from rots was Obi handing Luke to the Lars and that was shot during Aotc.

You must have the newer dvds? The Yoda change was first added in 2010 to the blurays. But that's weird that they wouldn't have Vader's no. So on your TPM dvd, the Yoda puppet is completely gone?
