I have a pic of my grandmother's high school class where for Halloween they all dressed up as black people and were in full black face. This was Minnesota 1921. It wasn't just for theater. The U.S. has a long ugly history of racism so pervasive it was a part of daily life and it was accepted. But really it's just insulting.
