Seriously. A friend in college downloaded a short porn clip, 30 second loop. Took him 4 hours to download, long distance, over his mom's phone line

I was in college when the BBSes made it possible to file share. And, yeah, the hours of waiting for a download of the simplest program to complete.

First modem was a whopping 24KBPS. Tried AOL and Prodigy. Got tired of constantly having to wait for "artwork" to download from AOL. Stuck with Prodigy and 6 months later, had a Free account. I did that and regular isp internet, having moved up to a honking 54KBPS. I've been connected for 22 years. I still have Usenet.
