Everyone has that one family member... God forbid you have a headache... They'll have a migraine

I just have this one family member that must have three doctors appointments a week every week.

That sucks...they must be very depressed, or will be soon. It is fortunate for this person that while you talk about them behind their back, at least you listen, or they just plain don't have anyone decent in their life...or maybe they even love you, and confide with you despite knowing you don't care.

I have kids. 3, 2 with disabilities...

Maybe it is you that needs an ear?!

just hope you never have kids...god forbid your kids grow up and are impacted the same way as this family person is...I can't make you feel guilty. I just understand the other person's perspective...bet they might even seem like an a-hole too....label them a narcissist and merrily drink your wine. I'm a complete stranger on the interwebs and know nothing of your situation...I can't make you do anything.
