Well, first you're going to need to download some software. But it's kinda long and complicated. :P I guess that's why XS didn't do more with it.

Translucent captions in a handful of colors and transparent captions have probably been possible since day one with 4 character color codes and the right settings.

The discovery of that/explanation to me led to a site upgrade that supports translucent captions in any Imgflip color.
