I didn't even know he was dead :( Have been a fan since I heard STP on the radio during a "new music" hour ;)

Lol. Yeah, I actually consider STP my favorite band (at least, up through the first 5 albums), and yet had no idea he had died until a few weeks ago. So, I guess maybe I wasn't the superfan I thought I was. In any case, it is sad that he is gone. But, to his credit, he did live longer than a lot of us thought he would. Hopefully he left some money behind for his ex-wife and young children.

Yeah I really liked STP and Velvet Revolver, never heard wildabout but I didn't know about them until I googled his death info. Is sad that it wasn't a big deal all over the internet like other deaths are. I have trouble keeping up with anything if it's not memed about on here lol.

Lol. I actually get a lot of current event info from this site as well. Years ago, I read CNN.com religiously. But then it just started to get depressing. So I unplugged and haven't really made much of an effort to keep up to date on things.

I'm the same way, I don't want the news to tell me how they feel about an issue or how I should think about it. Just give me the info unbiased and I'll make my own dam decision about it! So needless to say there isn't a single television news program I can stand anymore lol.

Yeah, the news programs are TV shows like all the others. Just trying to make that advertising buck. The issue with me on CNN was, invariably some horrific crime headline would catch my eye, and then I'd spend an hour reading about all of the really f**ked-up things people were doing to others. It was too much.

Good news doesn't sell, which really shows how messed up society really is in my opinion. If they showed more stories about police saving peoples lives instead of weeks showing one bad incident they might be looked at differently. I mean surely firefighters save lives all the time also, but I can't remember the last time they put a fireman on the news that had saved somebody by risking their life. I like this site much better, we all may have different opinions. But at least the majority of people here are honest about how they feel about things. That means a lot to me even if I disagree with their opinion, I know they aren't being paid to have it ;)

Lol. Absolutely. I have been surprised at how forthcoming people are on here, with their strongly held views and opinions. Of course, we're all hiding our real names behind user names, so I suppose that anonymity is a factor ;) In any case, I have observed that if you disagree with someone in a respectful way, without judging or attacking, people typically respond in kind. You just have to be careful not to get sucked in by a fiendishly polite troll, lol.

Exactly, you don't have to agree with a person to respect the fact they are allowed to have their own opinion. They should also respect that you are allowed to express your own as well. There's a big difference between disagreeing with somebody and attacking them, though some feel they are one and the same. Everybody reacts to things their own way though, but in time you will find the people you can interact with without a problem and those it's best to just leave alone. Except when they have alts and or change their user name a bunch of times. That bothers me because it makes people suspicious of new users at first. Most of us that have been here a while have fallen for at least one troll that acted like a new user only to attack us eventually. You start to recognize that sort of thing in time as well though.

[image deleted]Yeah, that's the nature of the medium I guess :/ If you give a new user the benefit of the doubt, and interact in good faith, I don't think you can be upset with yourself later, if he/she turns out to be an alt-account troll. But as you said, little by little, you develop a kind of intuition about these things. Always trust your gut! ;D
