Once upon a time, there was a very vocal imgflip troll. This troll went around to most memes on the front couple pages trying to make people feel bad about their memes. When some of us asked this troll why he was so angry, he always replied that top users got "special privilege." That all our memes received good spots on the latest pages and his were always buried on page 9.
We tried and tried to make him understand that it's completely random based on a lot of factors and we get buried also, but he was a stubborn troll and wouldn't believe anybody in the imgflip kingdom. He told us we all try to keep new users down so we can keep our spots and are never nice to anybody but each other. It seemed the imgflip Kingdom would forever be under the dark cloud of this troll.
Then the sky began to clear and the sun began to shine as the great and wise Socrates made a proclamation to the Kingdom.of Flip. Let there be a page 9 party he proclaimed! Where we all go to page 9 of the latest at the same time and bestow our upvotes upon any and every meme there. Therefore giving any new user on this page a chance to have their memes be seen and maybe even make front page.
But this angered the troll also for he decided it wasn't intended to make new users feel welcome, it was only a personal attack against him. He gruffed and he grumbled but as time went by his power of negativity faded, until now he changes his user name often so nobody knows that he is the troll that ended up being so negative that something good came out of it. And that my friend, is the story of page 9 ;)
