Of course. The supreme court justices would have to oversee the process

So you pick two. The first is president the second is vice president

I'm saying it could work, if there was enough witnesses to see it wasn't rigged!

What, you don't trust the supreme court? ;)

I would rather implement a Hunger-Games system: All elected officials are constantly tortured once in office, and if no one runs, candidates are chosen randomly. This way, no one wants to be in office, so no power-greedy people run.

You may have something there. But I would restrict the candidates to the political science and lawyer fields. Then we might have fewer of those in the workforce. Win win

While we're at it, how about making lawyers and political commentators all government employees, and that includes the torture part. They probably deserve it, and you can just say "blah blah blah, constitutional right to cast an informed vote, blah blah blah, constitutional right to a fair trial, blah blah blah constitution, blah blah blah f*** lawyers."

And what will we do with the lobbyists?

1. People take lobby money to help get elected. That means they have to WANT to get elected.

2. Put them in flaming money baths.

I don't know what to say about that, so democracy will basically become a game of chance… :/

with just a fraction of the people eligible to vote actually voting, it's not far off. I can't believe that out of all the major party candidates at the beginning of the campaign that we have ended up with the two that we have. I don't believe that either are the best person for the job. It's all about who has the most money to build the best power base. I know that sounds like a lot of rhetoric but, in my opinion, it is pretty much true. Maybe we should be more like informed shoppers and not look at the pretty picture and words on the front of the label, but read the ingredients on the back. Although even there, I have only seen one or two people ever read the ingredients when I am shopping. I suppose we are in such a hurry these days, we give too much trust to the people who are feeding us.

It doesn't sound that bad of a plan, because I don't like how political parties spend so much money on these elections...

If you add up the presidential, the senate and the house it's almost 2 billion dollars.
