You are reading out of context. If I say "it's okay to hurt anyone if they are threatening your life" and a newspaper reporter says "person claims 'it's okay to hurt anyone'" then it's not true. If I had to choose between a child and a bug, I would choose the kid, but if it was a child and an endangered animal, I would choose the other animal
