Lincoln

Aug 1862, Lincoln told a gathering of freed slaves that they should leave the country and start a colony in Central America. Given the “differences” between the two races and the hostile attitudes of whites towards blacks, Lincoln argued, it would be “better for us both, therefore, to be separated.” Didn't teach you that in school did they?

Not to mention that the emancipation proclamation freed all slaves ... in those states that were in rebellion against the United States, excepting of course those counties that were, at the time, under Union control. In other words he "freed" only slaves in areas under Confederate control.

And so much for "emancipation". ;-)
