Yeah. Often enough nobody gets into the idea. And even a good meme or idea gets almost completely. People want it to start out funny, and then maybe start a better discussion. I know.

I think my experience is similar to yours. You might try going onto popular memes from the front pages & make insightful comments there (especially using your custom memes.) It's extremely hard to start an intelligent string of comments from one meme from a newer person. I've had little success with my own memes. If you don't know this already, try using whatever appropriately sized popular meme on creation page & drag a pic you got from a screenshot over it. Takes some practice on more complicated ones.

Do political and/or NonPC memes need the NSFW box cked, or does a mod ultimately makes that characterization too?

I don't think non pc memes get labeled nsfw very often. I think it's more about sexual stuff. But if it or a comment gets flagged it might be deleted.
