6 things I've learned from watching my wife teach for almost 3 decades:; 1. The school day starts long before students enter the classroom; 2. Evenings and weekends are for grading, lesson planning and other work that can't get done during the day; 3. When classroom supplies run low (and they always run low), it's up to the teacher to buy them out of her own pocket; 4. Teachers care about their students and think about them all the time; All.The.Time. 5. Teachers would rather teach the subject than teach to testing standards; 6.
