Whats sad is that the alternative position, "there is no god", is much closer to brainwashing due to the fact that there are only like two(flimsy) arguments for it. Compare that to the dozens(some better than others) of arguments for God(some closer to the christian conception than others). The proof of the brainwashing is that most atheists will maintain their position despite this.

Sure. Keep believing that it if it makes you happy. What you have are ancient writings telling a tale. Nothing else. I believe there is some type of higher power involvement but not the man made garbage that caters to chauvinistic males. Ever stop to think about the Torah? It's a tale written by Hebrews, for Hebrews, about Hebrews and of course they are the chosen. It's complete and utter horseshit. As for the New Testament, it's a great prophecy on how people should live their lives but leave it to man to screw it up and use it to empower themselves by creating another god that isn't. Live and let live, don't care what you believe but religion IS brainwashing of the highest order and the followers are sheep. The book even says so.

Then I decided to think for myself and minored in Theology while completing my business major. What you have is a nice half assed history book infused with fallacy. The science of evolution VS creationism. Evolution is a fact although the exact extent is yet to be discovered. Creationism is nothing but fantasy. What proof do you have of an entity? Just because we are here is not proof of any sort. "Contemporary Atheism"? "Intellectual fad"? You sound like a wanna be scholar trying to convince themselves along with everyone else that you know what you are talking about. A true Atheist would laugh their ass off at your comment.

So reading over your comments i skipped the part where you wrote 'i believe there is some type of higher power' which indicates you are not an atheist. So i don't really have much of a beef with you. As i say further down my meme is primarily directed aginst atheists and materialists.

Having a beef with a true Atheist is a losing battle. Real Atheists are usually happy people.

I have met happy agnostics, but never happy athesits.

Then you must have met the disgruntled who became Atheists because someone (like parents) tried shoving religion down their throat. I know many that are very happy living for the day.

Hi. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm HumanBeingWH. I'm a happy atheist. I have no objection to others believing in whatever they wish to believe. I respect the beliefs of others. Religion and faith help many people lead good, happy lives. I have no faith in any deity and no religious beliefs and live a good and happy life, like millions of others. I know we haven't met, but just wanted you to know I exist.

Im curious, do you DENY the existence of god, the supernatural, any 'other relm', or any entity that is out side the natural temporal material world?

Hello again. I couldn't reply to your comment Im curious, do you DENY the existence of god etc, the reply button vanished. Any how, for me, there are no deities. If someone else says there's a God, (whichever one), then for them, there is. They get something they need from that faith, religion or belief, and to them, it's real. Great, not, hurting me, carry on. I just don't have any symbolic being that I worship, pray to or look to for guidance on how to live my life. I don't mind following some of the rules set down in the bible, thou shalt not kill is common sense, but there are others I don't subscribe to, like I think it's okay to eat meat on Friday. From what I gather other people of Christian faith pick and choose what they follow from the bible so I think I'm not a bad person to just go with the biblical rules that've been adopted as the law.

Or it's because i feel bad for people who don't have god in their life or because i pity the intellectual poverty it reveals in a person. In fact it's a combination of the two. "Intellectual poverty". That's hilarious. I pity the person who is nothing without a crutch such as religion or a creator. I'm neither Atheist or Materialist. I actually removed all distractions from my life and live with just the basics. If is were not for my job I wouldn't have the internet. Most of the Atheists I meet are very happy and successful. Not necessarily materialistic but enjoy life as much as possible. On the flip side, I find religious people to be constantly tormented by what NEEDS to be done to go to heaven and be "righteous". Sad really. Can't go one day without having to "pass the test" for eternal life.

I don't know why you think calling atheism an intellectual poor position is ridiculous. It is practically impossible to defend. Trying to prove there is no god or supernatural? C'mon. What I do see are people saying a subject like physics or biology says way more than it claims.

You don't have to prove something ISN'T there. It's the other way around. The burden of proof falls on the believer.

You bet your ass you do if you want to make the claim 'there is no god'. 'There is no god' IS an assertion. Certainly agnostics don't have to but they are not making a claim.
