That'd just be another tax.

Sure it would be, but 53.6% of registered votes in the US voted in the 2012 election, that's embarrassing when you compare it to say Sweden, in 2014 they received a voter turnout of 82.6%, see what I mean? Plus, this could actually benefit the US with lowering the deficit since so many conservatives think of it as a top priory! To be honest I'm kind of a geek when it comes to US History and Government, my friends and family think I should become a historian, but I'm like, I really want to do something that will benefit the environment though... XD

That's not a bad idea. I don't like how half the country complains about poor leadership but never votes, especially with early voting.

It would cause a whole lot more votes, but think about the first amendment of the Constitution. Freedom of speech means that we can choose what we say and whether or not we vote. I will vote when I have the chance, but there should not be a tax because that would not be constitutional.

There is no fee for not voting because it directly contradicts the first amendment of the Constitution. The Freedom of Speech includes the right to vote or not.

I see, I'm sure if "Congress" got together to decide this, they could fine a way for this to work out probably...

Maybe, but it might possibly be stopped by the Supreme Court for it not being constitutional. All I'm saying is that while I think that everyone should vote, it is their decision whether to do so or not. The government is given their power by the people and they cannot take away our rights by fining us to force people to vote.
