The US was founded by men and women who read Greek and Roman manuscripts in their respective original languages. Hence the prohibition of income tax. Despite bitter disagreements, they all agreed that Americans should keep their earnings. The US was carved from wilderness and became a global power without an income tax. Also proscribed was transferring tax dollars to citizens. Taxes were for commonwealth function only.
