Then it wouldn't really be that profound, or reliable in any way. It claims, in many places, to be the clear revelation of God to humankind. If those claims aren't true, why trust the rest?
if you understand what the "Bibles" are then you might also understand that todays accepted versions are greatly edited and redacted. If indeed they are the explicit word of God then why have those ever newer editions? Numerous errors in translation, the pointed emphasis of dogma that advances political goals, and the refusal of "believers" to objectively question just how that sacred Word was delivered to them all work together to deny the profound poetry that is the basis of the Bible that has come to us today. You needn't believe either King Lear or King Solomon ever existed.
Atheist here. He is correct in that that the Bible is a repository of older stories and myths. PAGAN stories and myths. So if he means that the word of God is a bunch of stolen stories, he is correct. Just as with the Holidays. There are NO Christian holidays. They ALL have Pagan origins.
lol i'm well aware, twas a joke...judaism existed prior to the term "pagan" sumerians didn't exactly call themselves pagan so how could one steal something from that which doesnt exist? I was condescending. Playing word games. Being tricksy.
WHAT IF THE BIBLE IS A REPOSITORY OF OLDER STORIES AND MYTHS SHARED THROUGHOUT HUMAN HISTORY; AND IS ACTUALLY THE WORD OF GOD ONLY IN A PROFOUND POETIC WAY
