Latin word for evil is "malum" and it happens that "malum" also means an apple. Therefore when the romans translated the Bible it turned out that the tree was a tree of "good and apples".Nowhere in the Bible does it state what the fruit is.

THANK YOU!!! I'd love to know where the idea of an apple got started. But taking geography into consideration, common sense dictates it was most likely a pomegranate (if you even believe in the G of E).
