This mentallity that countries should be borderless is alarming.

If we had no borders and we just allowed anyone who wanted in, to just waltz right in unchecked, we wouldn't be the country we are now. If we weren't speaking German by now, we would definitely be overtaken by radical Islamic groups and we'd be worse off than the middle east is right now.

I'm not sure what country you live in but, the bigger a government gets the less efficient it gets and the more resentful the people get. The founders of the US recognized this and it is why their original intent was that the states wielded the majority of the power. This is why we have the mess we have now, the Fed has tried to take on too much and does very little well.

That's the goal for the New World Order movement and it's very dangerous. In theory it could work but being the way human's get corrupt it would be a disaster. So people who live on islands....they have to give free transports onto that island because land borders can physically be freely crossed by anyone prepared to make the trip? When I lived in Germany, I'd cross the border into the Netherlands regularly, no worries. When I lived in the UK, I couldn't just walk into France....that's not fair, according to this no borders codswallop.

They had borders and they also fought each other to take the borders of others. Guess what...it's been happening throughout history. You cannot function without borders and as a country we must fight to protect these borders.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
Who had borders? The people that I have said? Many did not and often times the areas in which people lived often overlapped. Borders have not always existed. Borders are a form of organization and I do not deny their usefulness for Western societies. Forcing the idea of borders on those that haven't used them before leads to chaos. Iraq, Nigeria, Syria, Sudan, Bangladesh, Kashmir, previously Cambodia... shall I continue?

If they had, maybe they would still exist in their natural form :)
reply
5 ups, 1 reply
natural form? Their natural form was non-country based. So what you are saying is that they would exist in their natural non-country based form if they were countries?
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
What I said was pretty clear. With no Government or Boundaries to protect them, they were vulnerable to others. So, what did their Non-Country base do for them? NO, I do not think they would have survived without some for of structure or borders. But, they may have retained their land and some of their customs.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
what you said is if they had existed in a country then they would exist in their original non-country form which is completely illogical. As to your next point, who may I ask are the Kurds? Where is their country? They exist. They retain their culture and to a certain extent land. Who are the Buryats? Who are the Inuit? I guess they are a figment of my imagination. Now the United States and the United Kingdom within their own name show the complexity of being a nation. However, the countries that have just been made by former colonizers have been given no thought to ethnic groups or cultures. This is where the dictators come in.

I agree that anyone proposing "borderless countries" is either naive about the reality of how the world is, orrrr...has sinister intent. So that IS true. But she lost me with the "perhaps if they had a country" argument. No. When a nation or people becoming aggressors and wage war, that border means NOTHING to them. And they'll blow up any walls or crash any gates protecting their targeted country. But borders MUST exist. That is definitely some NWO type shit if that's what was said.
reply

never once uttered the word Utopia. Who is putting words into someone else's mouth now? I am saying that this idea that the whole world is a bunch of countries defined by borders is a new idea, primarily driven by colonization. What were the countries and borders in Africa and the Middle East prior to European colonization? Sure there was Ethiopia in Africa but that was it. Forcing borders on countries that haven't come to that conclusion on their own contributes in making dictatorships and anarchy..

The borders today are VERY different than they were in 1940. They existed, but people crossed them at will with nobody even trying to stop them. My dad was born in Canada, but frequently drove to North and South Dakota, where he met and married my mother. When WWII broke out, he enlisted in the US Navy, and was given US citizenship because of that. My siblings that were born before WWII are dual-citizens.

It was a much different time...safer? I don't know. Kids had little fear because they weren't couch potatoes playing video games all day. They learned to stand up and fight for what was theirs. Secured borders are for people that are afraid.
reply

unsecure borders are for fools. And there really isn't anything wrong with legitimate fear. It teaches you to react to threats. Without fear, we would be walking off cliffs and into walls of fire. Being totally fearless isn't brave, it is stupid.

Some nut jobs here! Through history.. countries had to establish at minimum. . "Territory". Evil dictators, kings etc wanted to rule the world. Castles were built to defend against these dictators as a last resort when their territory was invaded. Borders not only define countries.. but cultures. Every country has their own laws... none identical to anothers. No borders arguments are for utopian minded liberals who do not see the real world threats that exist... and have short memories of events like 9/11. I like your meme... and think your comments are spot on! I'm not even gonna reply to no border comments.. it's not worth my time. Keep going... GREAT MEME!

I'm not a "leftist", or a plaything to amuse you, but I am sorry. I didn't realize just how big a thing fear is in your life. It reminds me of a Clint Eastwood line in High Plains Drifter..."It's what people know about themselves, inside, that makes them afraid." Perhaps counseling can help you with that, and your other issues.
reply
3 ups
Intelligent people do not allow fear to grip them. They assess that which might be fearful and then they act accordingly to distinguish that fear. They do not question a natural emotion or dismiss it as if it is something negligible. People who do that don't survive very long. You can know all you want about yourself, but you have no control over those around you. Just like I have very little control over some nut coming onto my meme and telling me I am in need of counseling because I value the security that borders have to offer :)

Iraq invading Kuwait is a classic recent example of why we need borders. Saddam "so insane" invaded for the oil resources... imagine if the world stood by and let evil do what they want??? Spurs is right,... this country would be speaking German!!! Utopia is a delusion! Evil exists... just as Good exists. Anyone with a fraction of common sense can look at history and see this... in any ancient text, to include the bible. Remember the movie "300?" It was a hollywood account of an actual event. I find it ironic,... that people would think we need no borders,... while enjoying a freedom of speech on this site,... because borders and rights of the people within the borders are protected.

True story - Post 9/11... I once had to get my car towed to a shop,... broke down. I was in the cab with the tow driver who began ranting against the US,.. not needing a military,... no borders,... and blamed "borders" for 9/11! Because these yoyo cretin terrorist could not come here freely and enjoy the same freedoms in the US as we do. I mentioned that he should be pissed at the dictatorships in those countries who deny their own people those rights,.. and he ranted more againt the USA and the people. I told him to pull over,... drop my car! He wanted me to pay him for the part tow... my middle finger stood at attention! I called the car repair shop,.. they sent over another wrecker ,... NO CHARGE. =) Don't know what happened to that fellow,... and don't care.

You're wrong. Fear is what stops people from doing stupid stuff. Ever see a baby wanting to put their finger in the candle flame cause it looks neat? Prime example of fear from getting burned. There is no such thing as inherited common sense. It comes from life's lessons of pain, fear, happiness etc. Just like you learned not to argue with a woman. I get the joke about husbands always being wrong and their wives rule the household, but you seem rather bigoted. That stopped being funny in 90's.

Also, your idea that our country should have no borders is rediculous. There were borders ever since the country began expanding in the late 1700's. If we didn't have borders we'd have a lot more problems than we do now.
